As we first begin to learn our craft, we are trying to do everything and anything to improve ourselves. We end up doing a lot of extraneous work. In some ways its our own personal experiment to see the effect of each exercise/etude we do. We eventually end up streamlining though, using what is useful and throwing out what is not. We get better and better at- 1.) locating a problem 2.) devising a plan or strategy of fixing this problem 3.) carrying out this plan and calibrating it as we go forward to be more efficient. We are not just getting better at playing the drums, we are getting better at THE PROCESS! Some goals or dreams we have take years of work to manifest, and by the time we get to where we wanted to be years before, our goals and dreams have changed. The encouraging thing about it is that we are narrowing that gap between having the dream and manifesting it into reality every time we work towards the dream. We hope that one day we create our own utopia dream world (heaven on earth), and if not at least we tried and had some fun along the way :) -Peace!

A phrase is a riddle that unfolds. So how to build it? How about folding a pattern in on itself much like a fractal. Using what you already have to make more. Music is less about throwing a million ideas at someone, and more about developing a single idea in a multitude of ways. An interesting phrase often has a twist. Before you can throw in the twist though, you must establish the basis for the twist. The first half is about establishing the idea. The third quarter is perhaps the best place for the twist to occur. The end is where the idea resolves. If you haven't noticed this is almost exactly how most movies/plays go->food for thought. It is also the rhythm changes form-AABA. A good phrase/statement will bend your/the listeners ear. Phrasing is NOT WHAT your saying, BUT HOW your piecing it together.

Sometimes the answer is given to us when we question anothers disbelief. If your like me you take someones disbelief as a challenge. Not to prove them wrong, but because we SEE something they cannot. Most times, it's not that others don't believe in you, its that they don't believe in themselves and they project that fear of failure onto you. You have to be able to stay true to your visions. With passion and discipline, the world will conspire to bring your dreams to fruition.

A band is a group of entities that unite with a common quality or idea. They are the five members/fingers that when united, make a fist. Their combined energy greater than their individual sum. When you hear a band, you are hearing them dialogue and riff on their commonalities. The energy they create by means of fusing their spirits is unleashed onto the crowd. That energy sparks the audiences engines, causing a reaction that can be felt clearly in the belly of the beast(crowd center). Their energy fires back to the band and thus the binding occurs in that moment.
But, then sometimes it the opposite.
