Inspiration

There are a few things I feel are crucial to musical beings. One is inspiration. It is the external force that is internalized. A rush of energy. I usually feel most inspired after seeing a performance of a favorite band or player. Inspiration is the spark that lights us up, it gives us a flash foreshadow of what could be. It is the breathe of the creative process! When I feel stagnant, I search for inspiration. Im seemingly endlessly inspired by greats such as Vinnie Colaiuta, Dave Weckl, Steve Gadd, Virgil Donati, Tony Williams, Elvin Jones, Gary Novak, Dennis Chambers and the list goes on. Theres nothing like new inspiration though, hearing some badass drummer you've never heard of before, jumping up from your coach and dropping your jaw. Be inspired my friends!
